Nuno Antunes
Nuno Antunes leads the ‘Hydrogen Taskforce’ of the Association of International Energy Negotiators (AIEN) since 2022. Under his leadership, the AIEN ‘Hydrogen Taskforce’ proceeded to assess the viability of standardizing agreements in the hydrogen space, including a Hydrogen SPA and a Hydrogen JDOA (both now in AIEN specific model agreement drafting committees), and a long-form term-sheet for hydrogen projects (under preparation).
Nuno co-heads the ‘Energy and Natural Resources’ practice at ‘Miranda & Associados’. His practice focuses mainly on the energy sector (upstream O&G, power and renewables, renewable gases, synfuels, CCUS), in respect of which he advises clients on all types of projects and activities. A retired Navy Officer with hands-on experience in ocean activities, Nuno centres much of his practice on offshore activities.
He holds a Ph.D. in International Law (2002, University of Durham, U.K.), with thesis on maritime boundary delimitation. As a guest professor on energy matters at the Catholic University (Lisbon), he lectures a module on hydrogen.
Nuno was expert member in the Portuguese Strategic Commission on the Oceans (2003), former adviser to the Prime Minister of Timor-Leste for the petroleum sector (2004-2005), and legal coordinator of the Portuguese continental shelf extension taskforce (2005-2006).
